About UsHappy Donor

The Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (AVHTM) is an exciting international group of people with a passion for both blood banking and studying the role of blood in health and disease. Hematologic diseases are some of the most common and most devastating diseases faced by our veterinary patients. Our group works together to better understand and improve diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. Our overall goal is to improve the outcomes of donors and pets with blood disorders by:

  • creating new veterinary blood banking standards, improving transfusion standards worldwide
  • disseminating current state of the art knowledge in hematology and transfusion medicine
  • supporting and organizing research to improve our understanding of hematologic diseases and their management

We offer many member benefits. Most importantly, we are a community of people with all different levels of experience and expertise who are excited to discuss blood disorders and blood banking in a productive and encouraging environment. Whether you are an expert platelet biologist, starting up a hospital blood bank, a keen general practitioner or nurse or anything in between, we hope AVHTM has something of interest to you and we welcome you to join the AVHTM family!
